welcome
The Writers’ Summer School has been held every August at The Hayes Conference Centre, in Derbyshire UK since 1949. Often just referred to these days as simply, ‘Swanwick’, it is thought to be the oldest residential writing school in the world.
Over the course of this five day residential writing holiday, up to 200 writers of all genres gather together to share their love and passion for the craft of writing. There is a packed programme of courses, workshops, speakers, activities and entertainment, as well as opportunities to relax in the beautiful surroundings of the Derbyshire countryside.
Writers at all stages of their craft, from beginner to published and established authors, novelists, poets and playwrights are all welcome. We offer part time and day tickets if you can’t make the whole week and the ALL INCLUSIVE PRICE covers all courses, workshops, entertainment and full board comfortable accommodation. All you have to do is buy your own drinks!
For more information - take a look around the website! Bookings for the 2025 School open on 1st January 2025.
